Who we are
We’re a family business. You can speak to Peter (on the right of the photo),
Chris or Sandra Makin or any of our broader team.
Peter’s generally the one who follows up enquiries, Chris is usually behind
the wheel or behind the bar – but not at the same time! Sandra runs the
office but is also often spotted working away in the kitchen.

Bookings and payment
Do I need to book?
It’s best to book your cruise on the River Queen, although we’ll happily welcome casual walk-on passengers – and
usually there’s room. We aim to hold some places for walk-on passengers, although there have been occasions
when we’ve had to disappoint people because we have been fully booked.

How do I pay?
We accept cash, most major credit cards and EFTPOS payment on the day. For larger bookings, you can telephone
through a deposit or send us a cheque in advance.
Deposits
If you would like to hire or charter the boat, or you would like to arrange a group booking, we usually require the
cruise cost in advance as a deposit, to secure the vessel for your group. The charter fee for the vessel includes the
cost of the skipper and crew and is $600 for a standard three hour cruise, and $750 for wedding parties.
Term and Conditions
Cruises are subject to weather and river conditions; on rare occasions it may be necessary to cancel sailings and
we aim to give as much notice of cancellations as we can – although sometimes no notice is possible. In the five
years the boat has been operating, there have only been a handful of cancelled cruises due to adverse conditions.
Cruises are also subject to the availability of a fully licensed skipper. In the event of the skipper falling ill or
otherwise being unavailable, we will aim to bring in a deputy skipper. In the event of no skipper being available we
will not sail but would happily remain open dockside and refund any cruise fare.
All passengers board the vessel at their own risk. The crew will at all times take care to ensure the safety of all
passengers but constant supervision, especially of young children is not possible. Any children venturing onto the
upper outside decks should be supervised by an adult from their party.
